Prepare for the questions that sound like real radio operation. This 60-card deck combines T2 operating procedures with T4 practical station setup and controls.
What this deck teaches
Operating questions reward a usable mental sequence: listen first, identify correctly, choose a frequency, adjust the station, and respond with good amateur practice. A spoken drill fits that sequence better than scanning an answer key.
Topics include calling another station, repeater offsets, simplex, band plans, signal reports, public service, digital modes, microphones, power supplies, computer connections and the controls found on a basic transceiver.
This deck belongs to a 397 text-card set built from the public domain NCVEC 2026 to 2030 Technician question pool, valid from July 1, 2026 through June 30, 2030. The set omits 12 diagram questions that require the official visual references. VoiceCards is not affiliated with NCVEC or the FCC.
How to study operating practices
- Follow a contact. Study calling, identification, signal reports and closing a contact in the order you would use them on air.
- Separate simplex and repeaters. Run those cards as two groups until offsets, tones and direct communication stop blending together.
- Name each control aloud. Say what a control changes and when you would use it instead of memorizing only its label.
- Practice as a scenario. For a missed card, imagine the station in front of you and state the next safe operating action.
