Ham Radio Technician electrical principles and components flashcards

Turn the electrical section into spoken recall instead of a page of symbols. These 84 text-based cards combine T5 principles with the non-diagram questions from T6 components and circuits.

What this deck teaches

This deck covers quantities, units, conductors, current, voltage, resistance, capacitance, inductance, Ohm law and electrical power. Formulas and units are written so a voice can read them clearly, which makes hands-free review practical.

The component half moves from resistors and capacitors to diodes, transistors, integrated circuits, batteries, switches, relays, transformers, connectors and the purpose of common circuit blocks.

Twelve questions across the full pool depend on diagrams. Most are in T6, so they are deliberately excluded here instead of turning a visual identification task into an ambiguous audio card. This deck belongs to a 397 text-card set built from the public domain NCVEC 2026 to 2030 Technician question pool, valid from July 1, 2026 through June 30, 2030. The set omits 12 diagram questions that require the official visual references. VoiceCards is not affiliated with NCVEC or the FCC.

How to study electrical principles and components

  1. Master units before formulas. Say the quantity, unit and symbol as a three-part answer until each one is automatic.
  2. Work one formula both ways. Use Ohm law and power cards to solve for each variable, not just the version you first memorized.
  3. Describe the component job. State what a component does in a circuit before checking its name.
  4. Review the omitted diagrams separately. Use the official NCVEC pool PDF for the twelve visual questions after finishing the text cards.
