Spanish daily expressions: 50 sentences you can say today
Fifty exchanges you would actually use on a first day in Spanish: greetings, ordering, asking where something is, saying you are tired. Each card gives you the English and asks you to say the Spanish sentence, whole, out loud.
What this deck teaches
Most beginner Spanish material teaches words before sentences, which leaves you able to recognise "hambre" but unable to say "tengo hambre" without assembling it first. This deck starts at the sentence, because a sentence is the smallest thing you can actually say to somebody.
The answers are full utterances with their question marks and their rhythm intact — "¿Qué hora es?" not "hora". That matters more in Spanish than in English, because the melody of a Spanish question is part of what makes it understood. Hearing the whole phrase repeatedly is how the melody gets in.
Because every answer is a complete sentence, this deck works in Listen mode as well as Speak mode. Put it on while you are doing something else and the phrases stop being things you translate and become things you recognise.
How to drill Spanish sentences with VoiceCards
- Say the whole sentence, not the missing word. In Speak mode you see "I am hungry" and say "Tengo hambre". Producing the entire sentence is the point — stopping at the noun is what leaves you assembling Spanish word by word in real conversations.
- Listen before you can speak. Run the deck in Listen mode first. You are not testing yourself, you are getting the shape of each phrase into your ear so that when you do speak, you are copying something you have heard rather than inventing it.
- Ten a day beats fifty once. Fifty sentences is a week of work, not an evening. Ten a day, said aloud, will stick; one pass through all fifty will not.
