Memorize Surah Al-Muddaththir (The Cloaked One): recite the Quran by heart
Surah Al-Muddaththir (المدثر, "The Cloaked One") is a Meccan surah of 56 verses. This deck pairs each ayah's reference with the Arabic to recite and the English meaning as a note, so you can hear the wording until it sticks, then say it back from the reference.
What this deck teaches
Hifz — memorizing the Quran — is done in Arabic, by hearing and repeating the exact wording, ayah after ayah. That is precisely what speaking and listening are for. Surah Al-Muddaththir is a Meccan surah of 56 verses; each card carries one ayah so you can work through it in order.
Each card puts the reference on one side and the Arabic verse on the other, recited aloud by the app; the Yusuf Ali English translation rides along as a note so you understand what you are reciting without it interrupting the Arabic. Because Arabic and English live in separate fields, the Arabic is read cleanly.
Work a few ayat a day rather than racing the whole surah. It suits daily revision, a memorization goal, or keeping a surah close. Arabic text is provided by the Tanzil Project (CC BY 3.0); the English translation is Abdullah Yusuf Ali's (public domain).
How to memorize Surah Al-Muddaththir with VoiceCards
- Hear the Arabic on a loop. Open the deck in Listen mode and let it play the reference, then the Arabic ayah, on a loop. Hearing Surah Al-Muddaththir hands-free while you commute or do chores builds the cadence before you try to recite it.
- Recite from the reference. Switch to Speak mode. See only the reference, recite the Arabic ayah from memory, then reveal the card to check every word. The English note is there when you want the meaning.
- Work a few ayat at a time. Do a handful of verses per day rather than the whole surah at once. Short, daily, out-loud sets beat one long silent session.
- Loop the ones that slip. Star the ayat that come out shaky and give them an extra Listen loop the next morning. An ayah you can recite cleanly from the reference three days running is one you own.
