Memorize Surah Az-Zumar (The Troops): recite the Quran by heart
Surah Az-Zumar (الزمر, "The Troops") is a Meccan surah of 75 verses — enough that it wants to be worked in sections. Each card carries one ayah: reference to recite from, Arabic to recite, English as a note.
What this deck teaches
Hifz — memorizing the Quran — is done in Arabic, by hearing and repeating the exact wording, ayah after ayah. Surah Az-Zumar runs to 75 verses, which is past the point where you can hold it all at once. Working it in sections of five or ten, and revising the earlier sections while you add new ones, is what stops the beginning slipping while you learn the end.
It is a Meccan surah, sitting in the first half of the mushaf at number 39. Meccan surahs tend towards shorter ayat and a strong cadence, which is a help when you are reciting from memory rather than reading.
Its title, "The Troops", is drawn from a word that appears in the text. Learning the meaning alongside the sound gives you a second handle on the surah. Each card puts the reference on one side and the Arabic ayah on the other, recited aloud by the app, with the Yusuf Ali English as a note so you know what you are saying without it interrupting the Arabic. Arabic and English sit in separate fields, so the recitation is read cleanly. How to memorize Surah Az-Zumar with VoiceCards

- Sections, not sprints. Take 75 verses in blocks of five or ten and revise the finished blocks alongside the new one. The revision is not optional at this length — it is the part that makes it stick.
- Loop the ones that slip. Star the ayat that come out shaky and give them their own short Listen loop the next morning. An ayah you can recite cleanly from the reference three days running is one you own.
