Memorize Surah Az-Zalzalah (The Earthquake): recite the Quran by heart
Surah Az-Zalzalah (الزلزلة, "The Earthquake") is a Medinan surah of just 8 verses — small enough to finish quickly and a good place to start. Each card pairs an ayah's reference with the Arabic to recite and the English meaning as a note.
What this deck teaches
Hifz — memorizing the Quran — is done in Arabic, by hearing and repeating the exact wording, ayah after ayah. Surah Az-Zalzalah is among the short ones: 8 verses, one per card, which is a deck you can hold in a single sitting and finish in a few days. Short surahs are where most people start, and where the habit that carries the long ones gets built.
It sits in Juz Amma, the last thirtieth of the mushaf — the section most people memorize first. Az-Zalzalah is one of the few Medinan surahs in that stretch, so it reads a little differently from its neighbours while still being short enough to learn early.
Its title, "The Earthquake", is drawn from a word that appears in the text. Learning the meaning alongside the sound gives you a second handle on the surah. Each card puts the reference on one side and the Arabic ayah on the other, recited aloud by the app, with the Yusuf Ali English as a note so you know what you are saying without it interrupting the Arabic. Arabic and English sit in separate fields, so the recitation is read cleanly. How to memorize Surah Az-Zalzalah with VoiceCards
